The Imperial Concordant
Defender's Dagger
The highest honour awarded by the Imperial Concordant. The blade is made of the sapphire armour salvaged from a RavenHawk that was shot down during the First War for Shylow. The cross guard and tang are made of silver. The tang is extended and covered with leather to form the handle. Three conditions need to be met to be awarded a Defender's Dagger : the soldier must turn the tide of battle, save at least one life, and survive. These activities (excluding survival) have to be in addition the soldier's usual role in a battle. A general, reacting to the changing tactical situation in battle and redeploying their forces as needed, would not be eligible for a Dagger. A private in those forces, seizing an opportunity to capture an unknown strongpoint, may be eligible. There does seem to be one unwritten rule : no one has ever been awarded a Defender's Dagger unless they were actually in the fighting, taking fire with their life at stake.
